The Diary:
were made in very bright colors of red, green and blue. the two obleisks stood on handsome decorated bases on each side of the entrance , the bases each bearing the name of the show in red letters on a blue panel. On each side of these bases branched out bright colored colonnades. As we approached the entrance we heard a great commotion from within. We were soon enlightened as to the cause of this commotion. With a loud burst the ORIENTAL PARADE marched through the entrance upon the Midway and with waving banners, noisy drums and howling flageolets and squeking bagpipes moved up the Midway dissappeared within the other entrance to the show a short distance above. The parade consisted of Beautiful Oriental women decked out in their finery on camels, Arabian Sword Fighters clashing their swords, Mena and women riding the elephants, little boys riding the long eared donkeys and Turks, Hindoos,Arabians, and other oriental types playing bagpipes and each trying to make more noise than the other. We reached " Cleopatras Temple", another Midway attraction. This was a pretty little building in the form of an Egyptian Temple, with its four brightly colored Oriental Coilums in front and its large blue dome. In front a huge sign board announced in large letters: "W H A T C E L E B R A T E D P E O P L E S A Y A B O U T Cleopatra" Below this was printed " I saw Lydia Pinkam but shes not in it with Cleopatra.
